The Government decided to react to complaints of cell phone users who allege they were badly served by Movistar, Smartcom and Entel PCS. The reason: according to segment norms, companies must provide the service without alterations nor interruptions.

According to the subscretary of Telecommunications, Pablo Bello, what happened in the last months is described simply as an alteration of the service. The explanation given by the companies, who base their arguments on the technology change process they are going through, is not enough to justify the current quality of service, says Bello.

"We understand the meaning of a network change, but we do not justify it. The process has started a long time ago and until now we have not seen any service improvement", says Bello. Another aspect that worries Subtel is the minimal information available to users on these faults. "It is unacceptable that the companies have not provided users with information", stressed the sub secretary.
